Compliance from start to finish
MoxonCole acts as the Principal Designer for construction projects with multiple contractors, ensuring compliance with the October 2023 Building Regulations amendment.
We give clients the visibility and confidence they need to meet their obligations under the Building Safety Act 2022 (BSA).
Our BRPD role, includes the following on both Higher Risk Buildings (HRB) and non-HRB projects:
- Guidance, advice and support in discharing client duties under the BSA.
- Advise on whether the project is a HRB or non-HRB.
- Assess and confirm the competence of the design team and other consultants.
- Engage with, and embed within the design team to understand the scope of the project and the assignment of design responsibility amongst the team.
- Proactively plan, manage and monitor design work in the pre-construction phase.
- Assess the planned route to compliance and evidence of compliant design.
- Monitor significant design change and manage out impact on interdependent design packages.
- Identify, document, and manage out risks to building regulations compliance.
- Involve clients in the process and provide clear and concise progress reporting to compliance.
- At project completion, sign off the Principal Designer Compliance Declaration, and provide the client with an audit trail depicting the route to compliance, and evidence of compliant design.
Additional services for HRB Projects:
- Establish and operate a mandatory occurrence reporting system
- Submit mandatory occurrence notices and reports to the British Safety Regulator (BSR).
- Advise and support clients in establishing a repository for the 'golden thread' of information required for all HRBs under the legislation.
- Provide principal designer 'golden thread' information to the client and the principal contractor as necessary.
- Record and share with the client the steps taken to make sure those appointed to do design work meet the competence requirements.
